“Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim. – Nora Ephron”
What do you do & what inspires you to do it?
I’m a songwriter, producer, and vocalist. I’ve been singing for my entire life and started writing on the piano when I was in high school. It has always been an outlet back for expression and something that I couldn’t get enough of. I started exploring production after moving to Los Angeles and really wanted to hone into the sounds I was going for without having to explain it to someone else, but rather creating it for myself. I’m inspired by music that uplifts and empowers and that’s the kind of music I want to create.
How do you define success?
For a long time, I thought that success was a certain number of streams or a specific goal in the distance, but I’ve come to realize that it’s the gradual changes that we create for ourselves. If I could have told myself that three years ago, I would have saved myself a lot of worry. Success builds over time, one step in front of the other, and we start to see it when we look back at how far we’ve come. It’s important to celebrate every milestone and place a lot of gratitude on the journey itself in order to live a successful life.
What would you say to motivate a younger you to be successful in life?
Let the fire motivate you but don’t let it consume you.
Are you doing now what you’ve always wanted to do or did you have other aspirations previously?
I’ve always wanted to write, produce, and perform my own music and that’s what I am currently doing and will keep doing. I also started a music label with my husband that we’ve been releasing music under, that’s been a long-time goal as well!
What’s the best business or personal advice you’ve ever received?
My dad always says in life you’re floating on the river to where you’re going and sometimes the water is rough, other times the water is smooth, what’s important to remember is the destination is the same.
What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
I have a twin brother.
Do you believe in a higher power?
Yes, and I believe when we start living in gratitude towards the universe and actually loving ourselves, the power that we are innately made up of starts to grow.
What’s something you can’t live without?
Have you ever had a slice of the pecan pie (with ice cream/caramel drizzle) from The Pie Hole in LA?
Where do you see yourself in 3 years?
Touring with someone I look up to, releasing music that will grow my fan base, and working with other artists and producers on collaborations.
Single or taken?
Married to my favorite person.
How many tattoos do you have?
I have one, it’s a butterfly wing. I’ve always been obsessed with monarch butterflies and I usually see them coincidentally around times that also evoke rapid changes in my own life. They’re symbolic for me and I think kind of lucky!
