“I know who I am and what I have to offer the world, and commercializing myself is not in my plan.” – The Soulstress
Summer “The SOULstress” Williams.
What do you do & what inspires you to do it:
I’m an artist/singer/songwriter. I learned to love singing music in general, from my parents! My father is a pianist and my mother is a singer as well.
How do you define success:
Success is being able to do whatever it is you desire the most and be rewarded for it.
What would you say to motivate a younger you to be successful in life:
As corny as it sounds, just be yourself and live the way you want to! Everyone gets so caught up in living for other people, be it for approval or work, that they forget who they are in the process.
Are you doing now what you’ve always wanted to do or did you have other aspirations previously:
Honestly, I’ve only ever seriously seen myself as an artist or songwriter. Everything else that I enjoy, be it art or dance, all seems to just accompany the dream! So, in that sense, I’m doing what I’ve always wanted to do and am watching it come to realization now!
What’s the best business or personal advice you’ve ever received:
That I am my own biggest obstacle. The only one stopping me from reaching my dreams is my own fear of getting there. That is powerful. A lot of times, we can blame circumstance as the reason why we don’t accomplish our dreams. But, if God literally thought, and spoke the world into existence, then we ourselves are to blame for speaking our blockages.
What’s something people would be surprised to know about you:
That I’m a Daredevil. I live for experiences so I’ll be the one jumping off a cliff, as long as I know I’ll be able to walk away from it all!
What’s something you can’t live without:
My dog, red velvet wine, ganja, some way to listen to music, ganja, did I mention ganja? Healing medicine.
Single or taken:
Single, I just like to say married to the music.
How many tattoos do you have:
Name a Song you like and Artist:
Smino “Smellin’ like a Re-up” or Ravyn Lenae “Spice”.
Name a movie you like:
Only movie I’m gonna be talking about is Black Panther for the month of Feb! 🙂
What do you like to do for fun:
Live shows, music festivals, travel, anything arts related, go karts, amusement parks, any and everything!
