What’s your name and what part of the Dirty South are you representing:
Derrick Anthony, Dallas TX.
What do you do and what inspired you to do it:
I’m a Lead Guide at Bonobos which is a men’s clothing brand. We make everything from casual wear to formal wear. We have apparel in a wide assortment of styles, fits, colors, and sizes. I’m inspired by so many things but mostly style, art, culture and the feeling that comes with looking nice.
Best business or personal advice you’ve ever received:
The only thing that can stop you is YOU!
Any words of advice for those who are a little style challenged:
Style is what you make it. Find out what is aesthetically appealing to you and then establish your perfect fit. Once done, start off by finding a few essential pieces that are really cool to you. Take those pieces and create looks around them. Rock it however you feel it brings out your personality!
How do you define success:
I believe that success is achieving your dreams and goals. Success can also be defined as working hard towards upward mobility and working hard and putting your mind towards the idea of elevating yourself to a higher level, leaving no option of failure.
What are your plans or goals in the near future professionally or otherwise:
My plans are to travel the world and see as many places I can before I die. Professionally, I would like to be a part of a creative team that produces menswear.
What do you like to do for fun:
I enjoy the basics in life; dining out, going out to movies, and shopping. Riding roller-coasters and waterslides has always been super fun to me! I really like to attend concerts, music festivals and art shows. I also like to go out to party sometimes and roller skate. Anything that has to do with the beach is my idea of fun!
What is/are your favorite genre(s) of music:
I’m pretty versatile when it comes to music. My favorites are rock/reggae, chill/future beats, and all sorts of electronica. I also get into R&B, some hip hop (mostly conscience), pop, alternative, soft rock, and contemporary Christian.
