In today’s Dirty South Club spotlight we give some shine to Mr. Andersen Jones the owner and designer of luxury handmade bow tie company A.E. Westbrook. Andersen took some time from creating his swervy luxury bow ties to share with us how he’s changing the bow tie game, his love for shoes and what he loves about the Dirty South.
What’s your name and where are you from:
My name is Andersen Jones. I was born and raised in Memphis, TN.
What do you do and what inspired you to do it:
I am a men’s accessory designer. Specifically, luxury handmade bow ties. I interned for Dillard’s right after college, and noticed the struggle most men had trying to tie a bow tie. So I designed and manufactured my own version of the bow tie that is easy to tie and more stable than the traditional bow tie.
Best business or personal advice you’ve ever received:
What do you like to do for fun:
I’m a big African history nerd, so reading or watching anything about my ancestors seems to make the top of the list. I am also an avid shoe collector, so if I’m not reading about African history, you can probably find me in a nearby mall.
Any words of advice or encouragement for those who wish to follow in your footsteps:
Do it because of the love and not because of the money.
What’s next for you or what are you working on that we can look out for:
I am currently in the process of putting out my first look book, as well as my fall/winter collection will be released this September.
What do you love most about the Dirty South:
The thing I love the most about the Dirty South would be… the hustle! I started hustling around 11 or 12 years old and fell in love. The South taught me so many things about survival and instilled in me ambition and drive that I will never lose.
