Creative Consultant Hakim Henderson Wants to Create a Platform for More Creatives

This world is full of creatives, but the world takes notice of the creatives who stand out from the rest. In today’s Dirty South Club spotlight we go a little deeper with a creative I believe the world will quickly take notice of and it’s only a matter of time before it happens.

Meet Hakim “Keem” Henderson, the newest member to become kinfolk here at the club. I wanted to know more about Hakim when I ran across a pair of custom Air Force 1’s he crafted. What intrigued me about Hakim & his work was not just the fact that his custom Mint Chocolate AF1’s were swervy (e.g. fly, flava, swagga, trilly trill, good looking), but also his attention to detail, his sense of style, his color combinations & his creativity in general. I’ve always admired a good pair of kicks though I’ve never been a true sneaker-head, but looking at Hakim’s Dessert custom AF1’s really had me wanting to become one!

I was able to connect with the young guru and get the dirt on him in Dirty South Club fashion. Read on and learn more about why he wants to create a platform for more creatives, the projects he’s working on and what he loves most about the Dirty South.

What’s your name & where are you from:

Hakim Henderson / Tampa, Florida.

Tell me a little bit about what you do and what inspired you to do it:

I’m a Creative Consultant/Designer/DJ. I’ve been infatuated with Pop Culture since I was young, thanks to a family full of performers/creatives (singers, dancers, painters, etc). From being a musician as a youth, to being an architectural design student in high school & making clothes for fun, during college I put it all together. Thanks to me being a natural people person & networker, I’ve continued on to begin assisting independent artists (and startup fashion brands) with various creative aspects of their careers (styling, marketing, collaborations, etc.). I want to help create a platform for more creatives in Florida & the world to collaborate or live out their dreams.

Best business or personal advice you’ve ever received:

Progress only stops when you decide to. To every unasked question, the answer is a no.

Favorite thing(s) to do for fun:

Workout/DJ/Volunteer when time permits.

Any words of advice or encouragement for those who wish to follow in your footsteps:

You’re only as great as you believe. Don’t allow any doubters, haters or negaters to dim your light with their shade. You can do anything you put your mind to.

What projects or things do you have coming up that everyone can look out for:

I’m currently working on raising marketing & awareness for my Dessert custom AF1’s nation-wide, while continuing to extend on designs. I’ve began a campaign for Florida natives (or whoever) to show their state pride, through a capsule collection set to officially release in August called “Florida’s Own” that I’ll continue to extend on.

I’m starting a boutique only with independent designers of clothing & lifestyle brands. Working with a great, up & coming artist from Florida extensively as his image consultant; details on that will be out soon. I also plan to begin producing music more seriously.

What do you love most about the Dirty South:

The food, the sun, the charismatic people & just that care-free feeling of living life without stress.
